How To Make Steam Games Download On New Ssd
Installing Games on Secondary Hard Bulldoze
Surprisingly I couldn't find an answer posted in the sub... I'yard certain someone volition link me to a page that has the answer but at the risk of getting downvoted to oblivion...:
My SSD is my principal drive where steam is installed, and its nearly full. Is in that location a fashion to install new games on my secondary HDD despite steam being installed on the SSD? Or practice I have to keep uninstalling games from the SSD to brand room for new ones...

Yes information technology is possible. Once you lot have 2 hard drives in your computer information technology should give you the option to select which drive to install the game on. I have 2 drives currently in my computer and steam games installed on both of them.
level i
Yep, once you format your new bulldoze, go to (when in steam) Steam tab> settings menu> Downloads> from at that place you tin apply Add library folder to a new drive. From the drop downwards menu in the area select your new drive (MAKE SURE Y'all CREATED A Binder, and characterization information technology what you want) and the specific folder and the file path is now complete! at present when you download NEW games, yous tin download and install to that folder. Besides moving from a difficult drive that a game is currently installed on.... I have no clue :P
level 2
Just copy the game files manually, then uninstall the game and reinstall it in the new place I approximate. Steam notices when files are already on the drive and doesn't download everything again.

Works for me. Steam asks y'all where you want each new game to be installed - only select the secondary and it'll brand another Steam folder on it.
level ii
I just do it this way likewise. Have steam installed on my SDD and all my games installed on my HDD.

Search google for 'Steam Mover'. It's awesome. You can move games from i hard bulldoze to another and yet launch the games from Steam as if it's nevertheless in the sometime location.
Information technology's an onetime program and it's just build 0.i, but it works perfectly.

On the topic of SSDs and Secondary HDDs, when your OS is installed on the SSD how do y'all stop it getting filled with junk etc. is there any mode to tell EVERYTHING to become to the secondary or a program to clean SSDs?
level 2
Great question. I try to manually select my HDD whenever an install asks me where I want to install something (unless its a program I need to start upwardly super fast). As well, I have my "downloads" folder in the HDD... even still my 128gb SSD is always about full :(.
level 1
Await in the download settings. At that place is an option to choose boosted download locations. You can't relieve changes when you are actively downloading something (tripped me up one time) simply you can save on multiple drives.
There is no in-Steam way to MOVE existing downloads to different locations I don't believe (other ways to practice that) but you can brand it then that you can choose which bulldoze games you download stuff onto. That'due south what I practise because my SSD is tiny and is only at that place to hold important stuff similar DOTA2 and TF2.

give thanks yous and then much :) this must be the squeamish and helpful side of reddit. I'm used to getting eviscerated on r/dayz haha

I have the same issue, one thing to annotation is you will always have to chose the 2d location when installing new games. There is no way to change the default steam install location. yous'll have to select your secondary location every time.
level 1
I wish steam would let me set up my secondary as default. When installing through In-Home Streaming it always installs it to my SSD.
level i
Yous can just install Steam on your HDD and forget most all the hassle. No need in SSD for games. Only some rare games will actually benefit from that in terms of performance.

well i said in my postal service that I looked around and couldn't find annihilation. sorry to bother you mr x
